If your shell is a Retrosix ABS shell like the one we sell here: Game Boy IPS Ready Shell, no need to do anything. If it's a regular shell, trim the 3 battery line stump at the bottom of the battery compartment where the AA batteries usually go so that it's flat.

After the installation, the USB-C battery cover will complete the work, or if you want to use your own battery cover, cut a hole for the USB-C port using a 4mm drill bit and drill 3 holes in the center of the battery cover as shown in the image.
